Farewells

3月は年度最後の月ということもあり、私たちの教室でも生徒たちに動きがでてきます。4月から英語を、と考えている子供たちが体験レッスンに来たり、逆に3月をもって教室を去っていく子供たちも当然います。教室を辞められる理由として一番残念に感じるのは、他の習い事との兼ね合いがうまくいかず、やむを得ず教室を去っていく、というパターン。それから、送り迎えが不可能になってしまった、というパターン。私たちにとって、教室に来ている子供たちはとても特別です。そういった子供たちが1人でも教室を去っていくというのは本当に惜しまれます。4年生のT君はおウチの方が教室まで運転できないのが理由で退会です。3年生の2学期からスタートして、今では中学1年生の教科書の前半くらいまでは理解できるようになっていただけに、ここでストップしてしまうのは非常に残念です。他の大手の学習塾に通う、という理由で教室を去っていく子供たちもいますが、せっかくネイティブとのやり取りに慣れてきたのに、、ここまで読み書き出来るようになったのに・・・とやり切れない思いでいっぱいになります。どこの教室でも毎年この時期に起こることなのでしょうが、これに慣れるのには時間がかかりそうです。

March is the month with a lot of changes. Some future students would come to see our lesson to start English in April while some of the existing students decide to leave us. The reasons that we really do not like for our kids to quit are; they can't acommodate the schedule with other lessons or the parents are no longer available to drive their kids to our school. Every one of student is very special for us and losing any of them always makes us very disappointed. Our 4th grader T-kun is leaving as he is losing a transportation to us. He's been with us since he was in the 3rd grade and now manages to comprehend the first half of Jr. high school English textbook. It is just so sad that we don't get to see him grow any longer. Some of them are leaving as they are starting cram schools... it is very disappointing to see them go after getting used to interact with a native teacher and read and write English. I understand that this happens every year every where, but it seems hard for us get used to.

Sweet planets

写真が悪くて恐縮です(携帯で撮ったので^^;)。これ、何だと思いますか？コレは実は太陽系の惑星をイメージして作られた高級チョコレートです。大阪にあるリーガロイヤルホテル内でしか購入できなぃ貴重なチョコレート。。毎年バレンタインのシーズンのみ遠方からの電話注文を受けてくださいます。なかなかもったいなくて食べられないでいる私たちです(笑)。

Sorry that this is not the best picture(by cell phone cam). Can you tell what it is? Actually, these are luxury chocolate balls made to look like planets of the solar system. You can purchase them only at Rihga Royal Hotel in Osaka. However, they accept telephone orders just for the Valentine season. We can't start tasting them as they look way too beautiful.

どんよりした空で残念ですが、今日はバレンタインデーですね～。
学生でなくなってしばらくたち、しかも自営業をしているとバレンタイン
も言われなければ気づかないまま終わってしまいそうです。
教室前に2週間前から出されたValentine's dayの旗も今日で役を降ります。 今週は何人かの生徒達が私たちに手作りクッキーやカップケーキを持ってきて くれました。会話のクラスのMiyukiさん、5年生のMinoriちゃん、高校生のRihoちゃんに、幼稚園クラスのYuma君、Mochaちゃん、おいしいスウィーツをありがとう☆　

Disappointingly, it's a gloomy valentine's day today. Since I work at home and it's been a while since I was a student, I tend to forget that this is a Valentine's day if nobody reminds me. The Valentine's day flag we put out two weeks ago will be off duty until the next year.
We've got some sweets from some of our students this week. Big thanks for Miyuki(conv. class), Minori(5th grader), Riho(h-school), Yuma and Mocha(kinder class) for all the yummy surprises!!
